The centrifugal sieve—also known as a horizontal centrifugal sieve—is a common piece of equipment in the field of starch processing. Its primary function is pulp-residue separation, and it is applicable to the processing of a wide variety of starch-bearing raw materials, including corn, wheat, potatoes, cassava, canna, and kudzu root.

Advantage 1: High Efficiency in Starch and Fiber Screening

The centrifugal sieve demonstrates distinct advantages in terms of screening and separation efficiency. By harnessing the powerful centrifugal force generated through high-speed rotation, the sieve effectively separates starch granules from fibrous impurities within the starch slurry.

Advantage 2: Superior Screening Performance

The centrifugal sieve delivers outstanding results in terms of screening quality. In the starch screening process—which typically employs a system of 4 to 5 centrifugal sieve stages—the raw material slurry undergoes multi-stage filtration. This process effectively removes fibrous impurities from the starch liquid. Furthermore, some centrifugal sieves are equipped with automatic control systems that enable automated feeding and residue discharge, thereby ensuring the stability and consistency of the starch screening results.

Advantage 3: Increased Starch Yield

The starch screening process is a critical stage influencing overall starch yield; the centrifugal sieve plays a pivotal role in this regard by minimizing starch loss and boosting the final yield. Starch centrifugal sieve systems are typically configured with four or five stages. Each sieve basket features a mesh screen of varying fineness—commonly ranging from 80μm to 120μm (e.g., 80μm, 100μm, 100μm, 120μm). The fibers separated at each stage are directed to the subsequent stage for further screening. In the final stage, fresh water is introduced to create a counter-current washing effect; this minimizes starch loss within the residue, thereby achieving optimal screening efficiency.

Advantage 4: High Degree of Automation, Ideal for Large-Scale Starch Production

The centrifugal sieve is particularly well-suited to the demands of large-scale, automated production environments. It facilitates continuous feeding and discharge, allowing for seamless integration with other starch processing machinery to form a fully automated production line.
